Jennifer Montilla v. Beverly Center Mobil, et al.
Date: Dec. 15, 2006
Verdict/Settlement (breakdown): $250,000 settlement
State: California
Background: Sources told Mealey Publications that on April 5, 2006, Jennifer Montilla slipped and fell on a tiled walkway outside of the Beverly Center Mobil station. It had been raining, and the walkway was wet but had a yellow caution sign and slip-resistant mats. Montilla stepped on the wet tile instead of the mats, which caused her to Slip and Fall and fracture her elbow. Sources said Montilla alleges that the mats should have been laid end-to-end with no gaps. She also alleges that she could not see the yellow caution sign from the direction she was walking on the tiled walkway and that she was walking briskly, but not running. Sources said that on May 3, 2006, Montilla sued Beverly Center Mobil in the Los Angeles County Superior Court.
